Micro, Small & Medium-Enterprises

Boma Yangu clusters Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to provide certain goods for the Affordable Housing Programme according to set standards and guidelines

Overview

The growth and development of hustlers’ investments, Jua Kali industry and MSMEs is a key plank of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto and Bottom up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The Affordable Housing Programme aims to catalyse significant developments in the housing sector, culminating in the construction of over 200,000 units per year to address the housing crisis.

There is expected to be an increase in the demand of various building materials and the Government is committed to sourcing this through local manufacturing.

MSMEs and Jua Kali Industries are a key part of this local manufacturing, and there are 79 key building inputs that have been allocated to these hustlers in the Affordable Housing Programme.

Light industries will also be given a preferred opportunity to provide construction materials.

Boma Yangu allows for the registration of MSMEs and Jua Kali organisations, facilitating the advertising of their goods, linking up with developers involved in the Affordable Housing Programme and winning tenders to supply the key building inputs set aside for them.
